These days a wide range of cleaning products available in every supermarket, but most of them contains harmful chemicals and substances, which can affect your health.
It is easy and safe to use homemade solutions for your carpets and upholstery, using natural cleaning agents such us baking soda and salt.
Accident spillages are the most common way we can damage our carpets. Catching the spill when it’s fresh, giving you a good chance to remove it completely. Staines from juices, red wine, tomatoes and herbs can be removed with pure lemon juice, just gently rub it using soft cloth and stain will disappear. Also sprinkling the salt over a red wine spillage can save your carpet from permanent stain. To remove ink of ball pointed pen from carpet or upholstery use surgical spirit (ethyl alcohol), gently rub spot with soft cloth infused with the spirit.
Some commercial carpet freshener work just to mask odours, try using this simple, natural method to refresh your carpet, without harming your health. Mix well two cups of baking soda and one cup of crushed lavender flowers and sprinkle on carpets. Leave for 30 minutes and vacuum the carpets.
To remove stains from fabric upholstery stir in some baking soda in warm water, apply over stein and wait for 20-30 minutes. Then soak the area with a towel.
And remember to try any cleaning solutions in the invisible spot before you start to clean all your carpet or upholstery. If fabric dyed, do not apply this cleaning solution.
Some spots could be treated relatively easily, but some stains are impossible to eliminate entirely, in this case professional carpet cleaning and upholstery cleaning are required.
